Admitted as a lawyer in New York and Washington States, Frederick Chang has been helping clients in the US and Asia since 1986, practicing in global law firms and investment banks, in New York City, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing and Seattle. He helps clients from individuals to companies and financial institutions with tailored financing, corporate and commercial transactional work, and problem-solving of a legal, regulatory, or compliance nature.

Frederick has received numerous awards including Leading Lawyer IFLR 1000, Chambers and Partners Asia, and by M&A Advisor for the 2013 acquisition by Johnson & Johnson of Shanghai Elsker, a consumer products company. He formerly served as ISDA North Asia chair of the legal committee and member of the standing committee, and as foreign arbitrator on the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration.

He has authored, spoken and lectured for numerous publications and at numerous events and institutions, in China, elsewhere in Asia, and at Harvard University. He is the author of Legal Foundations of Corporate Financial Transactions (公司融资交易的法律基础) (China Science and Technology Press, 2008) a book on the fundamental laws governing, and operations of the major divisions of, the prototypical market-making US investment bank based on a course he taught at Beijing’s University of International Business and Economics.
